Hiya bcuk, the info on featured blogs is good to let us have information on bloggers that we may normally never come across.
May I suggest a "Featured Group" each day would be helpful to do likewise.

I did Zappy, see, "The JB featured post" on my blog.
(That will be a tenner in a brown envelope please.)

I haven't got a brown envelope. Or a tenner. But you're still my friend. Ahhh.

This is a good idea - and particularly useful if someone is only on for 15 mins or say, once every 3 or 4 days!

There are, it appears, millions of groups that we will never get around to having a look at and we may be missing something good.

Hence the necessity to have a "best post of the day" group!

It's a nice idea alright, but the 'Popular Groups' appear on the Groups homepage - they are very indicative of the best and most active groups on BCUK.
A featured groups section would probably just end up rotating the five or six blogs that already appear in this list.

Thanks for you reply Rampage. I was thinking more along the lines of groups that do not appear at the top of the table but those that never do appear, possibly groups with a membership that will never allow them to get into the top six.
There are almost certainly groups on subjects that visitors/members will not know about but may like to read the posts or join the group.
